The Bible says we are called out of darkness (1 Peter 2:9) to be Light-bearers. Light overpowers darkness. When the sun comes out, no darkness can stand against it.

The Light shines on in the darkness, and the darkness did not understand it or overpower it or appropriate it or absorb it [and is unreceptive to it]. John 1:5 (AMP)

Pray The Word

God’s Word gives us power over the enemy and sin. Disarm the darkness in your life and nation by praying God’s Word every day.

  1. Blessed be the Lord our Rock, Who trains our hands for war, and our fingers for battle. (Psalm 144:1)

  2. Thank You, Father, that we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, Your own special people, that we may proclaim Your praises for You called us out of darkness into Your marvellous light. (1 Peter 2:9)

  3. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but Lord, You will arise over us, and Your glory will be seen upon us and in our nation. (Isaiah 60:2)

  4. When the enemy comes in like a flood into our nation, thank You, Lord, that the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. (Isaiah 59:19)

  5. Father, we will walk in the light as You are in the light and have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus Christ, Your Son, who cleanses us from all sin. (1 John 1:7)

  6. Lord, we will put on our new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy. (Ephesians 4:24)

  7. Heavenly Father, thank You that You have delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of Your beloved Son. (Colossians 1:13)

  8. Thank You, Jesus, that You disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. You shamed them publicly by Your victory over them on the cross. (Colossians 2:15)

  9. Lord, we ask that You open the eyes of the people in South Africa so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in You. (Acts 26:18)

  10. Lord, we will put on the whole armour of God [the armour which God supplies], that we may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. (Ephesians 6:11)

  11. Thank You, Jesus, that You have come as Light into the world so that everyone who believes in You will not remain in darkness. (John 12:46)

  12. Lord, You have made us a light for all nations, to show people all over the world the way to be saved. (Acts 13:47)

  13. Father, we will have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness but rather expose them. (Ephesians 5:11)

  14. Thank You, Lord, that You will deliver us from every evil work and preserve us for Your heavenly kingdom. (2 Timothy 4:18)

  15. Lord, thank You that have given us the authority to tread on serpents, scorpions and all the power of the enemy in South Africa. (Luke 10:19)

  16. Thank You, Jesus, that You are the light of the world. We who follow You will not walk in darkness but have the light of life. (John 8:12)

  17. Father, we will let our light shine before men, that they may see our good works and glorify You. (Matthew 5:16)

  18. Lord, the unfolding of Your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple. (Psalm 119:130)

  19. Thank You, Father, that we are children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night. (1 Thessalonians 5:5)

  20. Lord, thank You that the people in our nation who walk in darkness will see a great light. Those who live in a dark land and in the shadow of death, the light will shine on them. (Isaiah 9:2)

  21. Lord, one time we were darkness, but now we are light in the Lord. We will walk as children of light. (Ephesians 5:8)

  22. Father, thank You that You have armed us with strength for the battle and that You have subdued those who rise up against us. (Psalm 18:39)

Week 1

Week 1

1. WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT

The world’s climate is not aligned with the spiritual climate of God’s people. In Haggai 2:6-8 (NKJV), God says, “I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; and I will shake all nations,” but at the same time, He says, “I will fill this temple with glory...the silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine.” When God moves us into our destiny and purpose, it is supernatural and not connected to the climate of the world.

When the lights go out in the world, the lights will go on for God’s people who have oil in their lamps (Matthew 25:1-13). God used Moses to deliver and prepare His people in a dark time.

“There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” Joshua 1:5 (KJV)

2. CALLED OUT OF DARKNESS

  • We are called out of darkness into the Light (1 Peter 2:9). The Bible says, “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit” John 3:6 (NKJV).

  • When we are dead to the things of the flesh (Colossians 3:5), Jesus can take us higher into heavenly places where we look at things from His perspective.

PRAY: Lord, thank You for saving us and taking us out of the darkness. We know that You are with us and will not forsake us. Amen

3. LIGHT-BEARERS

We have been chosen for this time. Maybe you feel anxious when you see the warfare, economic calamity, and natural disasters, but before the foundations of the earth, God called you for such a time as this. He has equipped you to face it. Just as God was with Joshua, a conqueror for the Israelites, He is with us to push back against the gates of hell.

"Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors and gain an overwhelming victory through Him who loved us [so much that He died for us]." Romans 8:37 (AMP)

4. PRAY FOR SOUTH AFRICA

Set time aside and pray that God will disarm the darkness in South Africa.

Week 2

Week 2

1. DISARMING DARKNESS

The Bible says we are called out of darkness (1 Peter 2:9) to be Light-bearers. Light overpowers darkness. When the sun comes out, no darkness can stand against it.

Daniel was around those in the dark arts e.g. magicians, astrologers, and soothsayers, but he was not corrupted by them. Likewise, Moses and Joseph both had dealings with them in the courts of Pharaoh, but they stayed pure. God protected Esther in a beastly system and used her to deliver a nation. Abraham was chosen and anointed in an evil generation.

We are called to be Light-bearers in South Africa.

"The Light shines on in the darkness, and the darkness did not understand it or overpower it or appropriate it or absorb it [and is unreceptive to it]." John 1:5 (AMP)

2. A DIFFERENT SPIRIT

  • The three Hebrew boys were known because they had a different spirit. How are you known? Are you like the world, or have you come out from among them?

  • The Word of God says, “What fellowship has a believer with an unbeliever?” (2 Corinthians 6:14). As believers, we must not participate in ungodly conversations or speak negatively about South Africa.

PRAY: Father, we ask that Your Light will illuminate our nation. Help us to be Light-bearers wherever we go. Amen

3. LIGHT-BEARERS

Too many of God’s people walk in darkness and are frustrated in their Christian walk. We need to know our identity as ambassadors of Light and of a new and better way. We have a different spirit to the world because God has given us a new heart and spirit. And even though we go through suffering, we know the Holy Spirit and the resurrection power.

"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." 1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV)

4. PRAY FOR SOUTH AFRICA

Set time aside and pray that God will disarm the darkness in South Africa.

Week 3

Week 3

1. PEOPLE OF LIGHT

In the Bible, the great generals of God were distinguished as men and women of the Spirit. When the Babylonians told their king about Daniel, they said, “There is a man in your kingdom in whom is the Spirit of the Holy God. And in the days of your father, light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, were found in him...” Daniel 5:11 (NKJV). They could see the Light in Daniel.

Daniel had all of that in the Old Covenant, so imagine what we have in the New Covenant. We are the people of God living in the Light, receiving His promises and ruling over the curses around us. (Deuteronomy chapter 28)

2. PEOPLE OF THE SPIRIT

  • We are from the Light, so our thought processes and actions must come from the Heavenly Jerusalem, the heart of God, which is beyond this world.

  • When we seek the Kingdom, we will see miracles, signs, and wonders take place (Matthew 6:33). And God will illuminate our lives, and people will notice there is something different about us.

PRAY: Lord, thank You for the New Covenant and the gift of Your Holy Spirit. Help us to walk in Your wisdom and understanding because You have supernatural solutions for our nation. Amen

3. LIGHT-BEARERS

Elisha told his servant, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
2 Kings 6:16 (NKJV). As people of the Light, we can see what others can’t see. If we focus on the turmoil in South Africa and the world and what the enemy is doing, we are not looking to Jesus. But when our eyes are on Him, and we know His Word, power and presence, He will deal with every enemy.

And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 2 Kings 6:17 (NKJV)

4. PRAY FOR SOUTH AFRICA

Set time aside and pray that God will disarm the darkness in South Africa.

Week 4

Week 4

1. ABOVE THE DARKNESS

The Bible says that there will be people who bear the enemy’s mark (Revelation 13:16) but also those marked by the Lord (Revelation 7:3). The people marked by the devil have his nature, but those who are marked by God will have God’s nature and His Holy Spirit in them. We must walk in the life of the Spirit that is above all darkness.

While people are in negativity and fear about South Africa, we walk in faith in Christ and connect to the Father. We are a spiritual people, empowered by God’s glory and victory. God manifests Himself to us and through us because we love Him.

"Listen carefully: I have given you authority [that you now possess] to tread on serpents and scorpions, and [the ability to exercise authority] over all the power of the enemy (Satan); and nothing will [in any way] harm you." Luke 10:19 (AMP)

2. A BETTER LIFE

  • As people of Light, we must stay connected to God’s power by walking in His nature and living in the Spirit every day—not just on Sundays.

  • Receiving God’s nature is a process that we must not resist. It is important to yield to the Holy Spirit and let the Word of God change us. Jesus gave us a better life to turn us away from sin. In Him, we have power over fear, hopelessness, anxiety, diseases, etc.

PRAY: Father, we repent of all doubt and fear. If You are for us, who can be against us? We walk in authority and the protection we have in the nature that is in Christ. Amen

3. LIGHT-BEARERS

When we pray in the Holy Spirit, He empowers us, fills us with glory, and renews our faith. The darkness cannot put out the light and fire that God puts in us. We can live in that Light every moment of every day—having righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost—ruling with authority from heavenly places.

“But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.” Jude 1:20 (NKJV)

4. PRAY FOR SOUTH AFRICA

Set time aside and pray that God will disarm the darkness in South Africa.

Week 5

Week 5

1. SUPERNATURAL KEYS

God gives us the keys of wisdom and revelation to disarm darkness, i.e. insight, understanding, and discernment. A nuclear bomb that is set to destroy a target can be disarmed with a key. Likewise, we override the destructive plans of darkness with God’s supernatural keys.

When we disarm the darkness over South Africa, the Light will break through, and then we will see God’s glory, salvation, healing and delivering power in the nation.

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places." Ephesians 6:12 (AMP)

2. BREAKING THROUGH THE DARKNESS

  • Because Paul came in weakness and fear, knowing nothing except Jesus crucified, He could demonstrate God’s power. (1 Corinthians 2:1-4)

  • When we deny ourselves and embrace the work of the Cross, Light breaks through the veil of darkness, and we experience the demonstration of the Spirit.

PRAY: Father God, when we are weak, You are strong. Thank You for Your power and keys to disarm every form of darkness in South Africa. Amen

3. LIGHT-BEARERS

In Acts 16, Paul and Silas were locked up in jail on death row. They were in darkness. How did they overcome their circumstances? They used prayer and praise. Although they were beaten up and chained up, they lifted their hands, worshipped and magnified the Lord.

Keep praying for South Africa with a breakthrough mentality and a heavenly mindset, and get ready for the glory of God.

"You have turned my mourning into dancing for me; You have taken off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, That my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever." Psalm 30:11-12 (AMP)

4. PRAY FOR SOUTH AFRICA

Set time aside and pray that God will disarm the darkness in South Africa.
